Definition Of Cerebral palsy(CP):
Abnormal control of motor movement due to a nonprogressive lesion of the immature brain.
Cause/ Etiology:
- Uknown 70%
- Prematurity
- Perinatal Asphyxia
- Birth Trauma.
- Meningoencephalitis.
- Metabolic Hypoglycemia
- Congenital Malformation of the brain.
Classification:
- Clinical Type: 3
- Spastic - Tightness of muscle.
- Athetoid- Uncontrolled Of body Movement.
- Ataxic - Poor Balance.
- Based on Severity:
- Mild- Ambulatory
- Moderator- Treated at Outpatient level.
- Severe- Bed Ridden
Clinical Features:
- Decrease spontaneous Mobility.
- Abnormal Movement.
- Constant fisting after 2 months of age.
- Primitive reflexes persisting beyond 6 months.
- Reduce head circumference.
- Delay social Smile.
- Delay milestone of development.
- Persistent asymmetry in posture, movement & reflexes.
- Excessive extensor tone.
- Nystagmus, persistent squint, no visual flowing.
- Lack of auditory response.
- Speech problem.
- Behavior problem, mental retardation, seizures.
